SoftWave Therapy at Active Life Project
Seeking root cause solutions for nagging injury(ies) or pain that just won’t go away, no matter what you try?
Have you done cortisone shots, prolotherapy, chiropractic, physical therapy, orthopedic treatment, stim, and/or laser? And yet you still have lingering pain?
Active Life Project Introduces…
SoftWave Therapy
A revolutionary new technology that can actually regenerate tissue, create a healing response in the body, AND repair old injuries. . .
rather than just cover them up or resort to surgery, injections, or something else to “hopefully” make it better enough to get by.
SoftWave Therapy is a patented technology that reaches the cellular level and activates your body’s own healing response to repair and regenerate injured tissue.
What is SoftWave Therapy?
SoftWave Therapy is a non-invasive new technology that uses shockwaves to activate your body’s own healing response, regenerate tissue, identify and lower inflammation in the body, reduce and eliminate pain, encourage blood vessel formation, and get your own stem cells working again.
SoftWave Therapy is unique in that it can induce a healing response and tissue regeneration without having to damage the tissue first.
Instead, Softwave Therapy mimics an injury to create a healing response. This sets it apart from prolotherapy, PRP, and even other shockwave units.
What this means is that SoftWave Therapy can provide superior healing with little to no downtime, risks, or side effects.

How Does SoftWave Therapy Work?
In short . . . SoftWave Therapy is a cumulative treatment.
. . . what does that mean?
It means, in order to receive the most benefit and maximize healing with the powerful tissue regeneration capabilities of the SoftWave Therapy machine, you need to expose the injured or painful area to this treatment…more than once.
You can expect one SoftWave Therapy session to give you temporary relief, but for full, cellular level, stem cell response and tissue regeneration, following a specific treatment protocol in succession over a six-week period, is when you begin to have long-lasting healing.
One SoftWave Therapy Session =
8-12 weeks of stem cells actively continuing to heal the treated area
For the TRUE magic to begin, after our initial assessment and treatment, if we find you are a good candidate for SoftWave Therapy, we will review what a personalized, 6-week treatment plan looks like.

Initial treatment
Initial Assessment & Treatment
To get started with SoftWave Therapy, we always begin with an initial assessment and treatment to determine the best course of action for treating the localized area of pain. The goal of this session is to find pain relief and range of motion/mobility improvement.
How It Works
the initial assessment & treatment
Detailed Health History:
to evaluate your current and past history to understand the root causes of your pain
Orthopedic and Muscle Tests:
to help determine where the cause of the pain/problem is, so we know where to treat with SoftWave Therapy
SoftWave Treatment:
15-min initial treatment session for 1-region/area of the body, includes 500 shockwaves*
Reassessment:
now we are looking for decreased pain and increased strength in the treated area

Next Steps
Treatment Plan
Treatment plans are progressive in nature to fully activate your stem cell healing response.
Treatment sessions typically take between 10-15 minutes and include a SoftWave Therapy treatment, as well as a mini evaluation before the treatment to evaluate your progress.
During your last treatment, we will do a full re-evaluation to determine your personalized next steps on your healing journey.
TO BE EXPECTED
Treatment Process
Progression:
Week 1 | (1st & 2nd Session):
We are looking for decreased inflammation and pain in the treatment areas.
Week 2 | (3rd & 4th Session):
During this time your body is increasing blood vessel formation and shutting down the inflammation response at the cellular level, which is what makes SoftWave Therapy different from any other shockwave therapy machine.
This provides the building blocks for healing and helps nourish the tissue in the treated area.
Week 3 and 4 | (5th & 6th Session):
By this time, we should see a significant reduction in pain and/or an increase in range of motion. This is where the magic is happening and healing of the tissue is underway.
Week 5 and 6 | (7th & 8th Session):
By the end of a SoftWave treatment plan, we can expect that your symptom relief is between 70% and 99% improved. About 80% of our patients reach 70% to 99% of improvement.
Ongoing Care
Ongoing Treatments
After the initial intensive treatment plan, many people elect to continue their care. Whether it’s additional SoftWave Treatment sessions or Sports Chiropractic visits, we put a plan in place to help continue to strengthen and stabilize the body and get back to that active lifestyle.
We will suggest the continued frequency of follow-ups after your treatment plan depending on your response. Follow-up visits can range from every 2 weeks, to once a month, or longer, to continue the healing response.

“SoftWave was truly a game changer for me!”
I’ve had countless soft tissue/muscle injuries over the years that would flare up due to lack of proper healing and never really knew what to do about it. The SoftWave benefits were almost immediate and it was also able to reach deep, recurring muscle pulls that no PT, chiropractor, massage therapist could properly address. I cannot recommend this enough, especially if you feel like giving up because nothing has worked in the past.

“I am finally able to live a pain free life!”
I didn’t use my shoulder for a couple of years because of pain, a bad MRI result and poor professional advice, but now I am finally able to live a pain free life! After having SoftWave treatments, I am now pain free and have full mobility in my arm and shoulder. I strongly recommend it. Wish I did it sooner.

FAQs
“I have heard of shockwave therapy before, how does SoftWave Therapy compare to other shockwave treatments?”
SoftWave Therapy is in a class of its own. Unlike other shockwave units, SoftWave’s unique design allows it to penetrate much more deeply than other units (up to the depth of a soup can) without creating tissue damage in the process.
Is SoftWave Therapy covered by insurance?
At this time, SoftWave Therapy or “Shockwave Therapy Treatment” is not covered by insurance but Health Savings Accounts can be used.
Is there pain or discomfort during SoftWave Therapy treatment?
There will be slight discomfort during the treatment only, which can be interpreted as a good thing. When the instrument is going over healthy tissue, there is no discomfort. But when going over tissue with excess inflammation, there will be a slight discomfort that only lasts during the treatment, while the device is directly over that area. When the treatment is done, there is almost always an overall sense of pain relief.
One of the amazing benefits of this device is that it is diagnostic in nature. It can help to triangulate the exact areas that need to be addressed during treatment. For example, if you are having your shoulder done, and we’re going over the area where your shoulder hurts and you aren’t feeling any discomfort, then we know we actually need to treat other areas around the shoulder. Oftentimes, pain can manifest in areas where there is excess stress, not always exactly at the site where there is damage.
When the device moves over areas with excess inflammation and/or lack of blood flow, there is some slight discomfort at the site. The level of perceived pain might be different from patient to patient. This lets us know which areas of the body have increased inflammation and gives us a good idea where to treat.
How is it similar to stim, PRP, laser, or ultrasound?
SoftWave Therapy is in a class of its own and can’t even be compared to any other modality, even other shockwave therapy machines.
How do you know if you’re a good candidate for SoftWave Therapy?
There are a few contraindications for SoftWave Therapy:
- If pregnant, it is not recommended to use over areas that would come in contact with fetal tissue. A knee, elbow, shoulder or foot would be okay.
- If you have a pacemaker, it is not recommended to go over areas that would come in contact with or adjacent to the pacemaker.
- If you have cancer or a tumor, it is contraindicated for use in those areas. Additional tests or test results would be necessary in order to treat other areas of the body where cancer is not present.
- If there was an injury to the growth plate, that area would not be recommended for treatment.
- If you had a steroid injection, it is not recommended to have SoftWave Therapy in the area of the injection for a period of 3 weeks after the injection.
How can SoftWave Therapy help with achilles tendonitis/plantar fasciitis (foot and ankle pain)?
SoftWave Therapy can be extremely effective for achilles tendonitis and/or plantar fasciitis. Two hallmarks of both tendonitis and plantar fasciitis are persistent inflammation and microtears of the tissue.
SoftWave Therapy specifically helps to reduce acute pain, decrease inflammation, increase blood supply, stimulate and activate stem cells, and promote repair and regeneration of the injured tissue.
One reason why these injuries become so chronic is that it is very hard to get the proper balance of rest and exercise because we are always on our feet.
SoftWave Therapy helps to supercharge that rehab process. We often see an 8 visit treatment plan over the course of 6 weeks significantly reduce and eliminate symptoms of both achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis.
How can SoftWave Therapy help with shoulder, wrist, hand, and elbow pain?
There is a lot of connective tissue in the upper extremity. Tendons are fibrous connective tissue that attach the muscle to bone. Ligaments are bands of tough elastic tissue that connect bone to bone and give your joints support, strength, and stability.
When you injure these areas (sprains, strains, tears, tendonitis, etc), there is often excess inflammation and microtears to the connective tissue. Additionally, many of these areas do not have great blood supply, making healing a more difficult process.
When applied to an injured area, SoftWave Therapy serves to reduce acute and chronic pain, decrease inflammation, increase blood supply, stimulate and activate stem cells, and repair and regenerate the injured tissue.
How can SoftWave Therapy help with tendonitis or tendinosis?
Tendonitis can be very painful. Tendons are fibrous connective tissue that attach the muscle to bone. Tendonitis is the chronic inflammation of a tendon that results from micro-tears of the tendon when repetitive activities or habits chronically overload the tissue.
It commonly happens in the elbow, knee, shoulder, hip, Achilles tendon, and base of the thumb. SoftWave Therapy can be extremely effective for people with tendonitis even when it progresses to tendinosis.
Two hallmarks of tendonitis are persistent inflammation and microtears of the tissue. SoftWave Therapy specifically helps to reduce acute pain, decrease inflammation, increase blood supply, stimulate and activate stem cells, and promote repair and regeneration of the injured tissue.
SoftWave Therapy helps to supercharge the rehab process and is extremely effective for those with tendonitis. We often see an 8 visit treatment plan over the course of 6 weeks significantly reduce and eliminate symptoms of tendonitis.
How does SoftWave Therapy work?
SoftWave Therapy uses highly effective, high energy electohydraulic shockwaves that penetrate an injured area at the cellular level to turn on the body’s natural healing process.
When applied to an injured area, it serves to reduce acute and chronic pain, decrease inflammation, increase blood supply, stimulate and activate stem cells, and repair and regenerate injured tissue.
Do you have to do a treatment plan or can you just schedule an initial session?
Our general recommendation is to book an initial assessment and treatment so we can determine whether or not you are a good candidate for SoftWave Therapy.
At that initial visit, we will do a comprehensive orthopedic assessment and evaluation. We will also have the first treatment on that initial visit. If it is determined that you are a good candidate, a treatment plan is almost always the preferred route.
With a treatment plan, you can get a significantly discounted pre-pay rate, rather than pay for each visit individually at a higher cost.
The most common treatment plan is 8 visits over the course of six weeks and most people experience a significant reduction in pain and an increase in range of motion.
What can you expect from the initial session?
Let’s manage expectations, you might feel good at the end of your initial session because your pain and inflammation have decreased, but it may only last a few hours to a few days or maybe longer than that.
While it's great to have pain reduction, regardless of how long, for you to really benefit from SoftWave Therapy’s tissue regeneration and stem cell healing, it does require that you follow a treatment plan and/or layer on multiple treatments.
What can you expect after the initial session?
After the initial treatment and re-assessment, if we find that you are a good candidate for SoftWave Therapy treatment, we will recommend the best treatment plan for you to move forward with.
Our SoftWave Treatment Plans are typically 6 weeks in length and follow a treatment schedule of 2 visits a week for the first 2 weeks and 1 visit per week for the last 4 weeks.
How long does treatment last?
The number of treatments depends on the number of areas that are being treated. In many cases, our patients average 8 treatment sessions to see 70%-99% improvement in pain and mobility. Each treatment session takes between 10-15 minutes.
